I was shocked to find out that nearly one in any three people write out the word German Shepherd wrong, calling them German Shepards instead. I am amazed that this word is so commonly misspelled, and I’m even further stunned to learn that I write it like this for so a handful of my life.

Individuals in Germany wanted a dog to help herd sheep. Think of the words herd & sheep now, and then reverse them. You don’t think of the German Shepards (I am kidding) presently as sheep herding canines, as they are routinely used by police to combat crime, in airports to sniff out drugs, & in other situations that rely on the dog’s strong olfactory senses.
