Funky Chihuahua Clothes and New Puppy Collars

As someone who’s been dressing little dogs in chihuahua clothes and other dog fashion for the past few years, I have seen my share of little dogs wearing costumes and outfits. What I notice right now is that chihuahuas wear dog clothes more than any other breed. I do see other breeds of toy dogs, like yorkies and poodles and Maltese pups, wearing dog outfits, but not nearly to the degree that I see chihuahuas wearing these clothes.

This might be so because chihuahua owners have more of a superficial fashion thing going on with their dogs. Many chihuahua owners do love to dress their doggies up in the latest chihuahua clothes and walk them through the dog park, showing their fashionable chihuahuas off. There are definitely a lot of chihuahua owners who love doing this!

Or maybe this chihuahua fashion trend I’m noticing is due to the chihuahua dogs themselves: it could be that, because they’re so small and have easy to manage short hair, chihuahuas are just the perfect dog models to sport the latest fashion. Or it may be much more basic and it’s due to the fact that when chihuahuas are dressed in chihuahua fashion, they become intensely cute.

It’s not really easy to pinpoint exactly why I’m seeing way more chihuahua puppies out there wearing dog clothing than any other breed or dog. But what’s easier to wrap your head around is the reason why chihuahua outfits are so hot right now: they can take even the most down in the dumps chihuahua rescue, cheer him up, and make him look a chihuahua fashion champ that is much more likely to be adopted. And if you own chihuahuas yourself, having them wear fashionable designer puppy collars can dress up your toy dog with that super chic, glam, fashion dog look.

Now I know that there are a pile of different types of little doggies that people dress in fashion right now. There are poodles wearing dog costumes and miniature pinschers sporting minpin clothes. But none of these other dog breeds are even getting close to touching the diva dog angle that chihuahuas are working right now. Chihuahua lovers are running to the Chihuahua Shop by the dozens each each hour, to check out the latest chihuahua outfits and chihuahua collars for their little puppies. Can I say for certain why this is happening? No, I can’t. But I can tell you one thing with certainty: chihuahua dogs are the fashion divas of the dog world, at the moment.

The Value Of A Dog Leash

Dog Owners should understand the importance of containing their dog on a leash. A leash protects your pet from the dangers of the outside world.

An unrestrained dog can get be a problem, regardless of the training your dog has received. Many pet owners treat their pets like their own children, and just like a child should have boundaries lest they wander off and get hurt, so should dogs.

There are so many distractions outside that could cause a dog to wonder off. The sound of diesel engines, especially delivery trucks and motorcycles cause a reaction. They not only continually bark, but many time chases after the vehicle. This is dangerous to the driver and also having your pet in the street is another danger.

Many other diversions occur that may cause your dog to leave its boundaries are wildlife. Birds, chipmunks, rabbits or deer can make an otherwise obedient canine to desert their manners and chase the taunting animal. Take your eye off your dog for only a moment and they could be gone. If they return unharmed, they may return having rolled in something with a bad odor. If it so happens your dog escapes on garbage day your neighbors might have quite a mess to clean up.

As you can see, allowing your dog to freely roam the neighborhood can annoy your neighbors, especially if your dog makes a habit of relieving themselves or dig on their lawn. Often times a dog will attempt to play with neighboring children but the young child sees the dog as aggressive and a chase develops. Even though the dog is playing, the child does not see it as such and may get hurt as they try to run away from the dog.

Even if your dog is not typically aggressive, when a stranger approaches to read a dog tag or a young child attempts to give it a hug the dog may get defensive and attempt to nip or bite. This is a shocking situation for both parties: the injured, the owner and the confused dog. Even though accidents happen, the dog owner is responsible.

A fenced in yard is a secure place for dogs to run leash free. For pet owners who have limited space or just don’t have a fence, go to a Dog Park. Dog Parks are a perfect place for dogs to play and socialize with other dogs and exercise in a fenced in area. Dog Parks are popping up in most townships. To locate a Dog Park in your area, contact your municipality or ask your veterinarian.

Dog owners know that taking care of your dog is a huge responsibility, but it is your responsibility. Dogs must be monitored or leashed at all times. Putting your dog on a leash is an quick solution to keep your dog safe.

Dog Leashes are manufactured in many sizes and styles. 4 foot leashes are great for those who live in the city; hands free dog leashes are great for exercising with your dog, couplers can be purchased for walking multiple dogs; retractable leashes offer a little more freedom; and the standard 6 foot leash is usually accessible in one inch and 5/8 widths to hold most dogs.

Although playing with your dog unrestrained is pleasurable, dog owners must realize the significance of leashing their dogs when appropriate. Joanne suggests ensuring your dogs safety by browsing to Jakes Dog House for dog leashes of various designs and sizes.

The Value Of Using A Good Quality Pet Collar On Your Dog

A dog collar can be made of plastic, leather or a cloth and should be positioned around a dog’s neck to keep the pup from escaping. A dog collar is used by many for a number of specific uses. Some individuals use a dog collar to tie up the dog and take him/her on a stroll; individuals adore dogs and so they desire to keep them from escaping. It can be devastating to have your companion pass for this reason.

Owners who love giant dogs (Great Danes, Bulldogs, or German shepherds, for instance) would benefit from a leather collar due to the fact that leather is can withstand a lot of abuse. Furthermore, many like the look of leather when put beside other materials. As long as the canine does not yank the chain, which is leashed to the collar, the leather collar should not become frayed. Although owners who have smaller pups like a Pomeranian would be more well suited with a cloth or nylon-webbed pup collar. These are usually cheaper and available in smaller sizes for smaller breed pups such as the Pomeranian. Because most small pups do not have enough strength to tear through a collar, for smaller pups, these nylon or cloth collars are something that should probably work. These collars come in a myriad of colors, designs, and sizes. Not only are there different colors but there are also florescent collars that glow in pitch black so that the person can see his/her pup no matter what.

Collars are not limited to different styles and sizes made to fit certain breeds; they are also comprised to help with other purposes. Some collars have studs or other decorations that can add a glittering effect; especially if the pup is a female. These studs, however, are not merely adornments. Studs are occasionally used to provide safety for the dog in case another dog tries to bite the dog that has the studded collar on.

On top of colors and decorations, dog collars can also come with pesticides on them. Typically, these medicated collars are soaked in a solution that kills fleas. Additionally, medicated collars are used to assist with a dog’s ache from affected areas of skin. The pesticides that are made available through the color is in small amounts and hangs on for a couple of months.

Dog collars can be used for coaching purposes. These collars are normally used exclusively for training and slipped off any other time. These collars should never be to choke the animal; there have been mortal cases due to an over-tightened collar around the dog’s neck. It is important that this collar be used in conjunction with training only. If you feel confused about how to use the collar, you should talk with a dog trainer online or at a specialized training grounds.

Pup collars are an essential component to keeping man’s best friend. Not only is it not dangerous for your dog to be on a leash, it is also a good idea for others. Often, collars are crafted to hold a tag on the pup that includes their owner’s address and phone number if the dog gets lost. This very feature has given the ability for many pups to be placed back with their owners after losing their way.

Benefits and Disadvantages of Choke Collars

A controversial topic which always gets dog owners emotions going is the use of choke collars. The views are all over the map when it comes to the advantages and disadvantages of the use of choke collars. Many dog owners encourage the use of choke collars for training purposes. By the same token, there are those who feel these collars are very abusive in nature. In order to make an educated decision concerning the different types of choke collars, one must study the plethora of information available.

A choke collar is manufactured out of chain and can also be referred to as slip collar. This particular version of dog collar is classically constructed of chain, cord, webbing or cloth. Despite the word ‘choke’ in the title, a chain choke collar was by no means intended to choke a dog – it was original constructed to squeeze the brachial nerve, similar to bumping the funny bone. This style of collar ought to be used for training applications only and ought to fit accurately around the dog’s neck, to avoid harming the dog’s throat.

Dogs should never be left unattended using this kind of collar because it can get tangled on various objects and strangle a dog by mistake. Literature recommends that a choke chain or slip collar only be used for training or when walking your dog with a leash. Never use a coke collar for puppies under the age of six months. Additionally, if your dog is frequently pulling against the chain collar, then an alternative kind of choke collars should be utilized.

Variations of choke collars include the half check collars and Martingale collars and are considered by many dog trainers to be gentler than those constructed of chain. These collars were originally designed for sight hounds which have necks larger than their heads such as Greyhounds, Whippets, Italian Greyhounds, Bolzoi and Saluki’s. Since their inception, half check and Martingale collars have become well-liked by many breeders for the reason that it prevents any dog from backing out of a standard collar.

Half check collars, also referred to as half choke collars, are typically constructed of leather or nylon webbing in combination with chain. Martingale collars are constructed entirely of nylon webbing. Both of these unique dog collars have a dual-loop design that functions by contracting on the dog’s neck when it is attempting to pull its head from the collar, but will release again when the tension decreases. The distinct, restrictive closure of the half check collar and the Martingale collar averts it from becoming too tight.

These specialty collars are also good for controlling dogs when on a leash. Some dogs, even when properly trained, can be a problem when on a leash and these collars are a tool to keep the dog and its owner safe. Choke collars are especially useful with extra large and giant breeds of dogs which can easily pull an owner off their feet.

One advantage the Martingale collar has over its half check collar counterpart is that it will not get tangled in the dog’s hair on account that it is made of webbing as apposed to chain. Most owners that are advocates of these collars emphasize that the fit and location of these collars are crucial when ensuring these collars do not cause harm to your dog. Directions on proper fit and location are simple to locate at any pet store, browsing on the internet or from a local dog trainer.

The debate over whether or not to use any type of choke collar will continue among dog owners, but there is plenty of information available for an educated decision. Ultimately, it is a decision that must be made by the individual owner and breeder for the benefit and safety of their dogs.

5 Things A Dog Owner Must Know

Are you a dog owner or is still thinking about owning one? Sure having a dog is such a wonderful experience. Especially if you have enough bonding moments with them, dogs sometimes become very protective, and of course, very loyal to their owners- which is very nice.

While having a pet or a dog in particular, brings so much joy to the family, there are some things that should always be kept in mind in taking care of them.

Choosing your dog. Your dog’s breed is one important thing that you should think about carefully. For example, thick coated dogs may suffer from too much body heat if you live in a humid place. Also, big and active canines are more suited in a bigger and spacious surrounding where they can move freely and run around. If you are living in a more compact place like a pad, then a toy dog is more likely suggested for you.

Proper dog grooming. In relation to a dog’s breed, be sure you know how to take care of them. Proper dog grooming is one way to keep them healthy and strong. Bathing them, cleaning their ears, and keeping their coat in good condition are just some things you must do on your dogs on a regular basis.

Your dog’s health. Keeping your dogs clean may not be enough. Like us humans, we shouldn’t take for granted the health of our pets; and also, they may even affect our health as well. If you feel that there’s something wrong with your dog, then go ahead and take him to a veterinarian for a check up.

Keep your home clean as well. Your dog’s dander and poop may be scattered all over the place. So aside from training him on where to do his private thing, which may take some time, keeping your home clean is the first thing to keep in mind. Be sure to take care of your kids’ health as well, since the dog’s dander and poop can make your kids really sick.

Play with your pet once in a while. A bonding moment between you and your pet is very important, since this builds the relationship together. Plus there are studies that dog owners tend to live longer compared to others having no pets at home. The jury may still be out to show concrete evidences to that; but one possible factor is that dogs make us happier, and brings more joy to our lives.

Dogs are like humans too, they can feel and understand us in their own way. Taking care of them is not an easy task, but is very much rewarding, once we know that we are doing a pretty good job.
