How to find the perfect Manchester Terrier

It is not always easy to find a dog that suits your needs. It is common that most people buy the first dog that strikes a chord in their heart, while other prefer to do some serious research and weigh in their options before getting a dog. There are certain important things that you need to find out if you are interested in a Manchester Terrier.

The first thing that you should understand is that Manchester Terrier’s come in two different varieties. These varieties are the Toy Manchester variety and the Standard Manchester variety. Both these varieties have the same general characteristics and are only different from one another in terms of their height.

Let us take an example, the toy Manchester Terrier variety generally weighs between 6-12 pounds whereas the standard Manchester Terrier variety weighs in between 16-19 pounds. Also there is a well noticed difference in height of the dogs of these two varieties which is reflected by the small size of the toy Manchester variety. Toy Manchester variety dogs grow up to about 10-12 inches whereas the standard variety grows to a height of about 15-17 inches.

Both the varieties of the Manchester Terrier are highly intelligent and very loyal. Even though the toy Manchester variety possesses hunting skills just like the standard Manchester variety, it is still not used for this purpose. Having said that whether you get a toy or a standard Manchester variety it is highly unlikely that you are going to use it to hunt, be it the rats that they were specifically bred to hunt, or any other animals.

The Manchester Terrier breed of dogs is mainly used as companion or competition dogs. These are very intelligent and can be easily trained if the training commences at an early age. Otherwise it is well known fact that both toy and standard Manchester Terriers can become moody or willful and sometimes even not listen to their owner. Providing training to your Manchester Terrier requires use of a firm hand.

One thing that you really want to think about while getting a Manchester Terrier is whether you have children, especially young children, in your house. This is because if the fact that Manchester terriers have a tendency to become aggressive in some situations if the aggression has not been bred out of them or if they have not been trained from a very early age.

And because Manchester Terriers were originally bred as rat or rodent hunters, and in case you have any pet hamsters, gerbils or mice in your home then it is better that you look for some other breed of dog or say goodbye to your rodent pet. Although Manchester Terriers can be kept alone with small animals with proper training and that too from an early age, it is advised not to indulge in such a practice since you have no idea when the natural hunting instinct of your Terrier would kick in. The best thing that can be done is removing the source of the temptation altogether!

How to find a good pet breeder

Have you ever thought from where do all those cute and cuddly pets in the pet store came from? Well a very few of those might have come from an unknown location, and a few might have come from the Pinta, the Nina and the Santa Maria, but most of those pets come from different pet breeders.

These people are the ones who make it their life’s work to breed certain type of pets. If the pet breeders breed only one type of pet, or they specialize in a certain type of pet breed, then the value of these pets do tend to go up in price. These, of course are the better breeders.

The first the foremost thing that you need to do if you are looking for a pet and scouting pet stores, is to investigate regarding the background of your intended choice for a pet. Some of the basic questions that you need to ask are what is its lineage; does it have any genetic flaws or have disease been bred out if it; what illnesses can it have; but the most important question that you need to ask is where does it come from?

All of these are valid questions and it is necessary that they be asked before buying a pet as these would help you to make your decision in a better and easier manner. The question given at the last, “where does your pet come from?” is very important if you are thinking of avoiding a pet that has come from a pet mill.

In pet mills, animas are bred just like in a factory without any kind of care. Even though they are not ill treated physically, this may be the case in some situations, they are ill treated in the manner in which they are forced to live. This is why it is a very good idea to ensure that your pet does not come from a pet mill, and whether it has originally from a good and reputed pet breeder, who cares for his pets rather than for money.

Not all pet breeders are uncaring or selfish. Most of the pet breeders love their work and the pets that they have bred and provide the best care for their pets. These pets are given very humane and good conditions to live in.

However, if you are thinking of getting a pet straight from a pet breeder rather than a pet store, then this a wonderful opportunity for you to choose a good pet for yourself. In a situation like this you can ask the pet breeder to give you a tour of his facility and this can surely help you in getting more information on the breeder.

In today’s modern age getting access to information is not at all difficult, and all you need is a little bit of hunting to get all the information you need to help you identify breeders who are well known for their breeding techniques and who provide the best care for their pets.

Labrador Puppy

Dogs are known to be very friendly animals. As you are choosing the dog that you want you may suddenly see a bundle of fluff streaking across your path. What you are looking at is that of a Labrador puppy. These gentle yet highly excited puppies are the perfect pets. You will need to think about which type of Labrador puppy that you want to adopt. This is due to the fact that the Labrador breed comes in two different types.

These two types or subdivisions are English Labrador and American Labrador. Further both these dogs have different looks that can aid you in deciding which one to get for yourself. The Labrador breed has four differently colored dogs to choose from, and you may consult your breeder on which one to get based on your lifestyle.

A Labrador puppy can be found in silver, yellow, chocolate and black color. Usually one color that is omitted more often than not is silver, because of the controversy related to this color among major dog breeders. According to some breeders any Labrador puppy that has a silver coat is actually a cross between a Labrador and a Weinmeriner. While other breeders argue that the silver color is actually a true mutation.

A Labrador is more likely to fit into the lifestyle of a person who is energetic in nature as Labradors are known to be full of energy. The lab, as it is more commonly known as, is a dog that has a great liking for swimming activities. Unlike other dogs, a lab is bred to swim. These dogs are excellent swimmers due to webbing found on their paws. It is great to find that the Labrador breed has a very easy to groom, water resistant coat, which proves to be an added advantage for Labrador owners.

Like all puppies the Labrador puppy loves to socialize. They can be trained so that you have a well disciplined puppy. As these dogs are very active you can exercise them with no problems. You will however need to give your puppy some type of activity to keep them occupied. Without this activity and disciple the Labrador puppy will become highly destructive.

While the Labrador breed was not bred for being a guard dog it does have this capability. You may want to broaden the scope of learning which will influence your puppy when it is a full grown dog. The patience that you show in training your Labrador puppy will help you to have a healthy and very happy puppy.

Puggle Puppy

Getting to know what kind of a dog a Puggle is, is the first step towards buying a Puggle as a pet. This would provide you with a whole new outlook on how to deal with your new puppy and what things you need to look out for when your small puppy grows up into a big Puggle dog.

The first and the foremost thing that should be noted is that a mature Puggle is almost of the same height as a Puggle puppy, i.e. 13-15 inches in height and about 14-20 pounds in weight. This means that you can easily keep your fully grown Puggle dog in our lap just like you use to keep him in your lap when he was a small puppy (unless of course it is in a mood to play and refuses to sit in your lap!)

A Puggle is basically a cross between Beagle and a Puggle dog. A true purebred Puggle puppy needs to be bred from a purebred Beagle mother and a pure bred Pug father. The result of such a cross breeding is a Puggle that can features of both the Beagle mother and the Pug father.

If you are bored by monotonicity in the color of dogs, then you would be happy to find out that a Puggle puppy comes in various different colors such as tan color, beige, silver, black and sometimes even a fawn and a white spotted mix. The hair on your new Puggle puppy would generally be short and smooth and would require very little grooming.

Puggles also have the wrinkled face and droopy ears characteristics that their parents showcase and also have a tendency to be stocky and short, with a curly wiggly tail. A Puggle is a pet that strives on love and it requires more time spent on love and affection than on grooming.

A Puggle puppy is also one small bundle of energy and loves nothing better than to play, so they make great family pets especially if there are young children around for them to play with. Puggles can be great social animals if introduced to the concept at an early age, but are otherwise friendly anyway.

A Puggle puppy has a good temperament but that does not mean that they cannot be used as guard dogs, once they are adequately trained and nurtured for this task. Although a Puggle would not bark like a beagle, it would surely give you a warning bark if it sees any stranger wandering near your house.

Your Puggle puppy, besides being energetic and mischief prone, will also be intelligent and trainable. They have good listening skills and they will become very loyal to their masters.

The best traits about your Puggle puppy however, all lies in his adorable features. The wrinkled-up appearance and the droopy ears make your Puggle puppy a truly captivating puppy and not one to be overlooked by anyone.

Get the perfect Yorkie Bichon mix puppy

It might sound odd when you think about it, but with so many cross bred dogs pooping up – both intentional and unintentional – there’s really nothing incredible about a Yorkie Bichon mix dog cropping up over time. What this means for potential dog owners, is something completely different of course.

If you are planning to get a Yorkie Bichon as a pet but are not really sure whether you really need a dog like this, and more importantly unsure what the puppy would become when it has all grown up, then there’s only one thing to say that you are not the only one having this doubt. It is a well known fact that no one can really predict what a mixed breed dog would grow up to be like and this is surely true for all mixed or cross bred dogs.

To state the obvious, there’s a chance that the dogs could turn out to be predominantly like their Yorkie father/mother, or like their Bichon Frise mother/father. Unlike the Puggle mixed bred dog, for the Yorkie Bichon mix to be considered pure, the parents do not have to be specifically of own breed, i.e. you do not need to have a Bichon Frise mother and a Yorkie father, or vice versa. It can be either mix, as long the parents themselves are pure bred dogs.

And this is why it sometimes becomes tricky when one is breeding a mixed breed dog. This is because of the fact that no dog breeder has the entire lineage of a dog breed going back hundreds of years, so it can be very difficult to be certain whether the ancestors of the dog have been cross bred at any point in time. There might be a very few genetic traits that might have been lying dormant and just manifest themselves at the time of cross breeding of the dogs.

The results of this cross breeding can either a dog that is very cute and adorable or a one that is a hodgepodge of the two participating breeds. However this kind of scenario is very rare in cross breeding programs, and in case you require a good Yorkie Bichon mix then you would most likely be able to get it without any kinds of problems.

What then would be the characteristics of such a dog, never mind the features of the dog? Well, unfortunately that too is not as easy to tell beforehand and most owners will have to wait to see what their Yorkie Bichon mix puppy grows up into: a predominantly Yorkie mix dog, or a predominantly Bichon mix dog. Whatever you do end up with though, you can be assured that you will get a warm and affectionate dog who is very loyal to you, and you really can’t ask for any more than that can you?

Getting a German Shepherd

A puppy is like a cute bundle of joy roaming around your home, but have you considered what kind of a puppy you want? With the exponential increase in the number of dog breeds you need to find out which of them are faithful to you. Well the answer to this question is very simple. The German Shepherd is one dog breed that is not just a good companion but can also be trained to perform a lot of activities.

Choosing a German Shepherd can be a tricky task because you need to look at the puppies carefully so as to ensure that there are no health problems as hereditary breeding is known to cause health issues in German Shepherds. Some health issues that affect these puppies are hip and elbow dysplasia, digestive problems, epilepsy, chronic eczema, dwarfism, flea allergies and keratitis. The best way to ensure that you are buying a puppy that is free from any kind of medical problems is by choosing to buy from a breeder who would be able to provide you with a certificate that assures you of your puppy’s health.

Since these puppies are very friendly and eager to learn you should take care to train them so that you have a German Shepard puppy who is obedient as well as capable of learning new things. One of the best ways to make sure that your new puppy learns what you want is to train the puppy outside. This way you can take the time to see that your puppy’s health is kept well.

While it is well known fact that all puppies love going for walks and playing, this thing is especially true for German Shepherds. The walk is one of those areas that can be used to train puppies to exhibit good social behavior while meeting strangers. There is one main thing that needs to be taken into account before starting the training of your German Shepherd.

This thing is that a German Shepherd is a very intelligent dog. But if there is no activity that is currently occupying the puppy, then it can turn into a destructive puppy. Correct training and proper handling are the only methods to reduce this destructive nature. It should be ensured that your puppy is being trained with a lot of patience, firm but gentle handling and lots of affection.

When you are thinking about the grooming which is entailed with this breed of dog you will find a dog type that is relatively easy to groom. You will need to brush out the coat of the German Shepard puppy on a daily basis. Other than this your puppy will need to have a bath only about twice a year. More than this amount will cause your puppy’s skin to loose its protective skin oil.

Even though there are many different breeds of puppies that you can think about getting, the German Shepard puppy is one who will provide you with loyalty and companionship all through its life.

The increasing number of dog breeds

There are probably more number of dog breeds in the world than there are people in the United States! Fine, that was a little exaggeration, but only a very small one. There are indeed a large number of dog breeds in the world and each day more and more breeds are being recognized.

The increase in dog breeds is not due to new dog breeds being discovered around the world each day, but because of the fact that new breeds are emerging due to various cross breeding programs. Not all breeds originating from these programs can be considered to be new dog breeds, but along the way some do stack up to the standards and are considered to be new dog breeds and this is the time when the number of dogs of that particular breed start to grow.

Since dog is supposed to be man’s best friend, it really is no surprise that the more ardent of dog lovers went on to cross breed different dogs to get what they considered to be the perfect dog for them.

This required many years of dedication on the part of these breeders as well as a love for the dogs. And the result of so many, many years of breeding programs by so many, many dog breeders is the large variety of dog breeds we have around us today.

And of these, one of the latest editions to the mix is none other than a cute cross breed called a Puggle who is crossed with a Beagle mother and Pug father. Of the latest new dog breeds to come to the attention of the public this cute, wrinkle faced dog with the big droopy ears and the soulful eyes, is one of the most sought after.

And just as with these Puggles, there are many new dog breeds which come into being on a regular basis. Some people believe that these cross bred dog breeds are better even than their pure bred parents as the cross breeds will have less chance of carrying the same genetic illnesses and diseases which the pure breeds carry in their genetic makeup.

If you want to have a dog as a pet and are confused by the sheer number of breeds present then the best way to decide is by narrowing down your options after taking into account what your requirements are. Following this methodology would help you to reject breeds that are not suited to your lifestyle and will help you to find the perfect soul mate.

Where to get your very own Vizslas puppy

There is no dog better than a Vizsla for someone who is searching for a loyal and adorable canine companion. This is one dog that is bound to keep you and your family entertained for hours at a stretch. A Vizsla dog is highly energetic and very playful, it is also known to provide a lot of attention and love to its owners. One of the best places to get a Vizsla dog is not from newspaper advertisements or pet stores but from reputed Vizsla breeders.

Getting your dog from reputable Vizsla breeders is highly advisable as you can then be assured that you are getting the best possible dog for you. Before proceeding any further though make certain that the Vizsla breeders you’re looking at to supply you with a Vizsla, are the genuine thing and not someone out to make a fast buck.

The better Vizsla breeders will not advertise or solicit you for your custom, and you can be certain that they will not be running a puppy mill. They will rely on your coming to them if you need a Vizsla, and any advertising they do will almost certainly not display any Vizsla puppies they might have that are up for adoption.

Vizsla breeders, just like any good dog breeder, care about their puppies. They won’t give these purebred puppies to just anyone, and you must also meet their stringent requirements of you as a Vizsla owner before they will even countenance giving you one of their precious puppies.

When you are visiting a Vizslas breeders premises, looking for the perfect little Vizsla for yourself, be sure to be questioned intuitively by the breeder on a variety of topics, this is done by them to make sure that you would be able to take care of your Vizsla puppy.

This is one thing that you should not be alarmed or offended by. Just like you have a specific criterion in mind while selecting a Vizsla breeder, they also have criteria to determine whether you are suited to being an owner of a Vizsla puppy. One should proceed forward only when both the parties are satisfied. After all this has been done, it is time to think about choosing your Vizsla Puppy.

After this it is just going to be you and your beloved Vizsla companion, but if you ever require any kind of help with your Vizsla puppy, or even the fully grown dog, all you need to do is to contact the breeder from where you got the Vizsla puppy. Most of the Vizsla breeder would be more than happy to interact with you and provide assistance in any way possible.

Vizslas rescue

It is a very unfortunate and sad fact that more dogs are put down everyday than you can imagine, for some reason or the other. It is also true that more number of dogs are either abandoned on purpose or abandoned by unkindly fate than put down. This is true for dogs of all breeds that you know about. However sometimes, a group such as a Vizslas rescue group can make a great difference how these dogs fare.

Of course not all Vizsla dogs are lucky enough to be taken in and cared by one of these Vizsla rescue groups, but sometimes miracles do occur, and even these destitute dogs get second chances. Most of these groups are however very poorly funded and require financial help to keep working, so apart from the task of saving Vizsla and other dogs are providing them with care and homes, these groups also need to search for funding in order to stay open.

This seems to be very unreasonable but this is how the things go on in real life, and most of these groups understand that this is how they would have to work. If you have ever owned a Vizslas you would understand how attached and loyal these dogs are to their masters. If this is touching for you, and you do think about the large number of dogs that have been rescued by the Vizslas rescue group, then you also can do something to help them.

Vizsla groups are always in need to both monetary and non monetary assistance. Just take a look at your own well adjusted Vizsla dog and imagine that if the dog were to be lost or abandoned in a kennel or left all alone, what would happen to it, and then only can you understand why there is a need to help these groups. Wouldn’t you like it if these Vizsla dogs had the best care they could get in these Vizsla shelters?

And what happens if they have to close down, what becomes of the dogs? Obviously this is not your concern and there is really nothing that you can do about it, but if you can help in anyway possible then do so. There’s really nothing sadder than seeing a formerly happy well-adjusted Vizsla languishing in a Vizsla rescue shelter.

And if all you can do is to point someone looking for a Vizsla in the direction of these Vizsla rescue groups and shelters, you will still be doing a lot of good. This way more and more abandoned Vizslas will be able to find good homes.

The Best Way to Get a Dalmatian

Not everyone wants a dog that is too cute and adorable for words. In fact there are quite a lot of people who like their dogs to be just the opposite of cute and cuddly – tough and unfriendly. If however you would like something that is in between both these extremes you could do no better than to get a Dalmatian for your pet, and the best place to look for good Dalmatian puppies is from Dalmatian breeders.

Although a pet store may offer to give a pet to you, it is better to get a Dalmatian puppy from a breeder because that way you can ensure that you get the best. Of course, if you are getting a puppy for the first time then you need to explore your options first.

This is why, when deciding to go with Dalmatian breeders to get your puppy from, you need to be especially careful that the breeder is a good reputable one. You definitely don’t want to get your Dalmatian from a poorly disguised Dalmatian puppy mill. Good dog breeders, be they Dalmatian breeders or not will always take an interest in you as much as you’re taking an interest in them.

They will generally ask you a lot of questions about your lifestyle so as to determine that you can take care of the Dalmatian or not. Dalmatian breeders just like other breeders are quite proud of their work and the amount of effort they put into breeding the dogs they sell, so in any case they would not allow their pure bred puppy to go into the hands of a person who is indifferent or who does not know how to care about their puppy as they should.

Most the good Dalmatian breeders would ask you questions and may even ask you to sign a contract stating that if in case you are not able to care of the dog you would bring it back to them. They do this to ensure that their pure bred dogs do not end up in animal shelters or with someone who cannot take care of the dog in the same way as you did.

Another thing is that you should be ready to ask the breeders all sorts of questions because they are the ones who can provide complete and accurate information on not only how to take care of your puppy but also about the nature of the puppy and any genetic anomalies associated with the puppy.

Being an owner of a Dalmatian is not an easy task, but the best way to start is by finding a reputed Dalmatian Breeder. This is the only way to ensure that your dog has been getting the best care from the very day it was born.
