Homemade Dog Treats- Read This Before You Make Them!
I have a weakness…my dog’s sad, pleading eyes. When I’m snacking on a tasty treat, it’s very difficult to not give my dog, Sam, just a taste. Unfortunately, many of the seemingly harmless “people foods” that we enjoy can wreak havoc on your poor, unsuspecting dog’s health.
For a long time, dog experts share the same opinion, that table scraps could be poisonous if consumed by your dog. With a variety of tasty dog treats in the market to chose from one should take care not to use foods that could harm your pet. A good example is grapes.
Grapes have been known to be potentially fatal to the dog’s kidney.
Since there is no idea the number of grapes likely to be poisonous, at least 5 or less grapes could harm a dog that weighs about 20 pounds.
How does one know that your dog has eaten this harmful poison in grapes?
In about 24 hours your dog would start to vomit and diarrhoea and appear weak. Not withstanding you may notice these symptoms within a shorter period. Another sign is that your dog might urinate less, which is an indication that your dog’s kidneys are failing.
What can be done now?
If you suspect that your dog has ingested any toxic substance, see your veterinarian immediately. It’s likely that the dog will be monitored carefully and will receive large doses of fluids until the symptoms subside.
You can avoid all this quite simply by not feeding your dog with people food! Discover instead a variety of tasty healthy treat(suitable for dogs). Not only are you giving your pet a dog treat but also protecting him with this healthy tasty snack too.
