As someone who’s been dressing little dogs in chihuahua clothes and other dog fashion for the past few years, I have seen my share of little dogs wearing costumes and outfits. What I notice right now is that chihuahuas wear dog clothes more than any other breed. I do see other breeds of toy dogs, like yorkies and poodles and Maltese pups, wearing dog outfits, but not nearly to the degree that I see chihuahuas wearing these clothes.

This might be so because chihuahua owners have more of a superficial fashion thing going on with their dogs. Many chihuahua owners do love to dress their doggies up in the latest chihuahua clothes and walk them through the dog park, showing their fashionable chihuahuas off. There are definitely a lot of chihuahua owners who love doing this!

Or maybe this chihuahua fashion trend I’m noticing is due to the chihuahua dogs themselves: it could be that, because they’re so small and have easy to manage short hair, chihuahuas are just the perfect dog models to sport the latest fashion. Or it may be much more basic and it’s due to the fact that when chihuahuas are dressed in chihuahua fashion, they become intensely cute.

It’s not really easy to pinpoint exactly why I’m seeing way more chihuahua puppies out there wearing dog clothing than any other breed or dog. But what’s easier to wrap your head around is the reason why chihuahua outfits are so hot right now: they can take even the most down in the dumps chihuahua rescue, cheer him up, and make him look a chihuahua fashion champ that is much more likely to be adopted. And if you own chihuahuas yourself, having them wear fashionable designer puppy collars can dress up your toy dog with that super chic, glam, fashion dog look.

Now I know that there are a pile of different types of little doggies that people dress in fashion right now. There are poodles wearing dog costumes and miniature pinschers sporting minpin clothes. But none of these other dog breeds are even getting close to touching the diva dog angle that chihuahuas are working right now. Chihuahua lovers are running to the Chihuahua Shop by the dozens each each hour, to check out the latest chihuahua outfits and chihuahua collars for their little puppies. Can I say for certain why this is happening? No, I can’t. But I can tell you one thing with certainty: chihuahua dogs are the fashion divas of the dog world, at the moment.
