What is cataract surgery and why is it important? Cataract is a common eye-blinding, eye disease the world has known that affects the elderly population and infrequently, even children. Once medications do not work the most effective way of treating cataract is through cataract surgery. It is important to learn how to prevent and treat this impending eye-blinding disease. This makes it imperative to know what is cataract surgery.

Before delving into the question “What is cataract surgery?” it is vital to tackle what cataract is. Cataract is a vision impairing ailment that is manifested by having a cloudy vision. The lens functions in directing the light towards the retina where the light receptors called rods and cones are to see with clarity. Cataract formation is age-related but there are reported incidences among children which are mainly caused by hereditary defects on enzymes of genetic nature. Aside fom aging , trauma to the eyes like inflammation and eye surgeries may similarly cause cataract.

So what is cataract surgery capable of accomplishing? The aim of the surgery is to extract the cataract from the lens and there are several types of surgery applicable.

Phacoemulsification entails the insertion of a thin probe that produces ultrasonic vibrations and dissolving of the cataract through making a small incision on the lens near the cornea.

Extracapsular Cataract Surgery is intended for those who have more advanced cases of cataract formation. The whole lens is removed, so a larger incision is needed. An artificial lens is sutured in the place of the lens with the cataract after it is extracted. This type of operation takes a longer time to heal and to regain normal vision.

c.Intracapsular Cataract Surgery is only done with severe cataract formation. It requires an even larger incision because the entire capsule along with the lens is removed. After removal, an intraocular lens is placed and sutured.

Knowing what is cataract surgery is important but more important is knowing how to avert it. At times like this one just realizes how meaningful is the saying that goes, “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure”.

Many of us dog lovers face different challenges every single day with our pet’s health. If you find that you seem to be constantly dealing with your dog UTI problems, the trips to the vet, the cost of treatments, and the constant dosing of medication can become a real strain on both you and your dog. Some appear to have no real problem with just overcoming that challenge and succeeding. Others appear to struggle without achieving substantial results. Exactly what makes all the distinction between success and failure here? Which are the differences that mean a few will succeed while others fail? How do you increase your likelihood of succeeding?

Success hinges on coming up with a good natural home remedy treatment and prevention plan prior to starting. It’s not hard when you first get all of the steps organized before you start this plan to stop the cycle of re-infection. And so, are you serious about curing your dog urinary tract infections, and doing whatever you can to prevent re-infection ? Then you should study and discover exactly what is important first. Simply put, you must improve your knowledge.

Here are 5 steps to consider to greatly increase your chances of succeeding at keeping your dog clean and fit, thereby reducing the chronic nature of dog UTI:

1. Take your dog out for frequent potty breaks. Why should you need to do that? Holding in urine promotes bacterial infection that can lead to dog UTI. If you will be gone for long periods of time, get a friend or dog walker to take your dog out. You can also install a doggie door to give your dog access to a fenced yard. O.K., so when I follow this advice, what can you expect to happen? This will reduce the need for your dog’s bladder to be straining and leaking because of holding in its urine too long.

2. Make sure your canine has use of a good amount of nice and clean drinking water. The reason this is essential is that numerous your vet suggest giving strained drinking water for pet dogs with UTI. A different way to improve your dog’s water intake is to supply him wet food. And, because a constant supply of clean drinking water will encourage more drinking of water which will keep your dog’s kidneys flushed, and make urinating more regular since the dog has less tendency to become dehydrated, making trips outside to the toilet irregular.

3. Feed quality food to your dog. Home cooked natural dog food is the best. . Here is the reason for this, By preparing the food yourself you know what the ingredients are and what the preparation process is. Since your dog could be reacting to a food allergy in a commercial dog food product, or reacting to chemical additives, preparing his meals yourself will identify this problem and any allergies to ingredients that you use in his meals. This could also be a good suggestion because top nutrition is key to your dog having a strong immune system, and if you feed him the best foods he will be much more resistant to infections like dog UTI. If you don’t cook for your dog, you can feed him organic or holistic pet food that contains no preservatives, additives and coloring. Keep your dog out of trash and don’t feed him table scraps.

4. Bathe your dog frequently. Just what exactly is significant in regards to this? Good grooming habits can go a long way towards keeping your dog free from UTI. If your dog has long hair, snip it away from the underside. Might there be another reason why? Keeping the genital area clean reduces the likelihood of bacteria traveling up the urethra from the external body into the urinary tract.

5. Set Regular Schedules For Feeding Your Dog. Eliminate any uneaten pet food still left inside dish. So what is the main plus factor in this? Should you don’t, the existing food can reproduce germs then when eaten, compromises your dog’s defense mechanisms. What other reasons are there back this up? Preserving a strict schedule for serving your puppy really helps to build entire body cleanliness exercises so its system is aware of when to expect food so when can be expected to be taken outside for toilet.

To enjoy great outcomes with curing your dog’s UTI and successfully preventing chronic re-infections, simply follow the 5 tips above. Neglecting these basic dog care tips will set you up for very poor results, and possibly a lifetime of your dog suffering from urinary infections and potential kidney disease. These basic dog care tips especially need to be practiced as your dog gets older, especially with female dogs as they are known to often experience chronic ongoing dog UTI health problems.

Common afflictions of your dog refusing to eat is either minimal or strong stomach irritation, this is more often than not the cause of compiled stomach acid when there isn’t any food in the stomach, this is likely to more than often result in vomiting, nausea a lethargic dog and it will definitely also without a question spark dehydration in dogs.

An empty stomach over a extended period may very well lead to the lining of the stomach to inflame and become irritable causing great pain and triggering vomiting which will reveal a clear yellow fluid, furthermore this vomiting will cause dehydration to rapidly increase. This will be absolutely stressful for your dog and they definitely will exhibit signs or symptoms of a lethargic dog.

Commencing to your dog neglecting to eat, blood sugar levels will lower, Hypoglycaemia can result in weakness dizziness and shivering, which might possibly be the answer to why is my dog shaking. These unfamiliar dog health symptoms will moreover cause your dog not to eat. These are generally very clear dog health symptoms that need to be looked out for. There are particular health supplements that can be given anytime your dog won’t eat, they might help make your dog feel much better to the point where their food cravings has returned.

Just what exactly to feed your pet whenever your dog won’t eat

It has to be reported that whenever you are in doubt the right resolution is always to consult with the vet. Nevertheless there are lots of options to aid your dog and reverse the effects of hypoglycaemia which embody feeding your pet Nurti-Cal which is a form of sugar that may aid your dog in eating again. One more formula which ought to be avoided is honey though this is seriously harmful and have the ability to trigger even further problems If it doesn’t work. If you have spotted this formula some place else you really should be alert it has its hazards and really should be avoided.

A sensible thought is to bring your dog a treat, specifically one you may have applied when you first started training your dog tricks, because if your dog won’t eat food he could be more enticed by some thing that is regarded as a treat, this could also liven up his day a little, triggering your lethargic dog to become excited even if for a brief period, exuberantly supporting the dog is a high quality idea too.

The threat of dehydration in dogs that will not eat

In a case where you realise your dog won’t eat it is most important to make sure they are drinking, the leading approach to evaluate this is by dispensing only one drinking supply and every so often check on it to see if the source has demised, if perhaps it is the case that the dog won’t drink as well, you have a potentially a dangerous problem as dehydration in dogs is as life threatening as it is in people. On top of your dog not eating not drinking will in addition inflame the problem and lack of hydration will defiantly result in death. A trip to the vet is a need in this circumstance. A really good strategy to trick your dog into drinking is to dab a soggy material on their nose, this will trigger your dog to instinctively lick their nose, just simply keep doing this, and if you’re lucky the taste will tempt them to seek out more.

On a ultimate note

Always seek out a licensed veterinarian whenever you are ever in doubt, if your dog wont eat for twenty-four hours, it is necessary. It is always better to seem irrational and troublesome than to have a lethargic dog showing obvious dog health symptoms.

If you find your dog wont eat or you have noticed other dog health symptoms then visit our website www.DogWontEat.com to learn more

Generally speaking we are certain our dog is feeling great the moment they gobble down their food, but also you can be sure that something isn’t proper when the dog won’t eat. It is an weird thing for a dog to forget about a meal and this is a telling sign that you have a lethargic dog on your hands.

If you find your dog hasn’t eaten in 24 hours it is time for a veterinarian visit. On the flip side if you have noted your dogs eating behaviours have gone the other way, for instance all of a sudden the dog has changed into a food thief and is raiding the bins this implies that something has altered within the dog, this behaviour will absolutely be listed as one of the dog sickness symptoms, and it ought to be checked out by a professional.

The dog is peeing a lot

If you identify your dog drinking water much more regularly than typically or urinating more or you find the dog drooling this could perhaps be a result of diabetes or alternatively kidney disease. It can be hard to determine if your dog is drinking needless water however you definitely will become aware of her immediate craving to go out in the open and you can certainly additionally start seeing more mishaps indoors in terms of peeing.

Do you have a lethargic dog?

discreet dog sickness symptoms is inactivity or more technically lethargy, this would include unwillingness to go on walks, or you may possibly identify that the dog wont eat despite this being the high light of their day, and abnegating to give you interest, this is a definite hint that something is wrong, most definitely if you have an older dog, it might possibly be a warning sign of death. If you do become aware of this then a journey to the vet is advisable.

Vomiting

An unsubtle cue is vomiting which can be accompanied by excessive drooling in dogs and quite undoubtedly dehydration in dogs. The act of throwing up is as dramatic in the dog world as it is for us, and just like us they could possibly be vomiting to get ride of anything disagreeable they might possibly have ingested. If this is the circumstance then it isn’t anything to be anxious about, on the other hand if the vomiting goes on then sure enough hop in the car and head to the vets as these are dog sickness symptoms that should really not be over looked.

Poo

As a last notice, poo. Yep you would be wise to check your dogs poo every now and again, you don’t need to poke and push at it but just make positive everything is typical, is it a familiar shade and dimension. If you find it is drippy or discoloured such as yellow this is a sign of malnutrition or he has ingested something unconventional at one point. The solution is the same as with people, just simply feed them tasteless food until such time as their stomach can reconcile, so simple rice is critical.

If you are overly bothered or there is blood in the stool then to the vets it is. And additionally take note that dogs have a tendency notably when young to eat their own poop, so if you start off realising there is a unanticipated diminishment in the quantity he secretes this can be the reason why the dog won’t eat, this might also be the reason you have a lethargic dog in the first place.

When ever one thinks about a dog endless degrees of energy is what one in general thinks of, but nevertheless , the regrettable truth is that dogs may become ill, these sicknesses can range from genuinely mild and unassuming to life threatening, this is the key reason why an on going partnership with a reputable vet is fundamental, and having a good understanding of dog health symptoms, because having a lethargic dog is in no way pleasant.

Finding a Veterinarian

It is essential that before you detect any dog sickness symptoms start popping up such as the dog won’t eat, excessive drooling in dogs and dehydration in dogs, you preferably should have a trusted vet on hand, so below is a manual to choosing one.

The first step to take is to consult pet owning neighbours and friends for a suggestion, secondly you must make contact with a vet as shortly as viable to get your puppy on their first check up and to question the vet on any issues that you find doubts about your dogs patterns such as the dog won’t eat, dog drooling or why you think you have a lethargic dog.

Communication is the basis of a good partnership with the veterinarian, you would need to come prepared with the health records which ought to be supplied by the shelter or breeder. Evident questions to ask and learn about are, feeding, shots, worm, flea control, toilet training and any dog health symptoms to look out for.

You must by no means worry about asking questions that you believe will make you look dumb, this point in time may be utilised to examine the veterinarians interest and care in the direction of you and your puppy, make sure you note that the vet has heard it all, so you will not look specially troublesome.

When to telephone the Vet

This is a short checklist of conditions a voyage to the vet is needed, as in some cases treatments can delay a while and other times it is required as soon as possible. Occurrences when a call is crucial are:

_ The dog won’t eat and hasn’t eaten in 24 hours, this is a pretty serious condition and may very well be the fault of bloat which is perilous to dogs and effects larger dogs more persistently, furthermore it will provoke dehydration in dogs which will further more worsen the issue.

_ Dislocation or cracks of any bones. _ Loss of consciousness _ High temperature _ Dog shaking, sneezing or dog drooling continually _ You have got a lethargic dog, by this we really mean they are uncharacteristically depressed, and lazy, even when it comes to walks and feeding.

If you find your puppy or dog is demonstrating any of these dog health symptoms it is imperative to call and make an consultation with the veterinarian.

To find out more about why your dog wont eat and other dog health symptoms such as dog drooling and a frequent question we often receive why is my dog shaking.

Not only are Americans fatter than ever, so are their dogs and the phenomenon can have serious ramifications for both groups. Pardon the clever pun as this is no laughing matter if you consider that obese dogs, like obese people, also run a greater risk of heart and respiratory disease and weakened joints. So it becomes clear to see that if a dog’s got more than a few extra pounds on him, he becomes even more prone to poor health than humans with similar weight problems, as a dog’s lifespan isn’t as long as a person’s.

It’s a good thing, though, that Newton’s third law comes into play here, as this is an action with an equal reaction that can travel the opposite direction. Enough tribute to Sir Ike for now – let’s put the cards on the table and now say good cardio and a healthy diet could slim both an overweight man and his overweight pet dog alike.

The Doggie Diet

To reduce the overweight or obese dog’s body weight, a program of diet and exercise should be introduced. But do not self-prescribe such regimen to your pet – always consult a veterinarian first as he or she would be able to determine the source of the obesity, whether it is due to diabetes or other medical issues or due to a high amount of calories. Your veterinarian can also prescribe the proper exercise/diet program. There are many brands of dog food on the market that are specially balanced to help a dog lose weight.

Helping your dog lose weight is a team effort, so even the best dietary supplements won’t work if you and your family do not help each other out in this aspect. This is a very serious plan of action that must be carried out precisely, where each family member should be aware of the amounts (and what foods) they should be feeding your dog, and when to do it. Do not be afraid to mete out punishments to anyone you catch secretly feeding your dog those sinfully succulent treats and leftover food.

Doggie Exercise

Exercise is important for any dog. The ill effects of lack of exercise do not just include weight gain, as your dog could also be prone to extremes – either he will be too bouncy or too listless. However, exercise is second nature for most dogs. By nature, they love sprinting and leaping around with their human friends. Sure, it may not be an easy process to convince a sedentary Shepherd or a lazy Labrador to get out there and play, but just keep at it and your canine buddy will come around and learn to enjoy playing fetch with a tennis ball, or simply strolling side-by-side with his master.

It Doesn’t Happen Overnight

Just like it is with people, there’s no such thing as a diet that could make your pet dog svelte and sexy in a snap. Remember that Rover didn’t put on those extra pounds all at once and they won’t come off that way either. When it comes to going back to that ideal weight of theirs, dogs would need about a year, give or take a few months depending on the extra weight, so patience is an absolute must.

Join HRU for programs that focus on nursing training. An HRU seminar is a great educational investment for your nursing staff.

If you decide to buy a dog over time it will become part of the family and it’s our job to look out for its health and that includes what we feed it as a poor diet can cause health issues.

Your dog’s diet can be the root of various ailments therefore a good balanced diet will help to promote inner health and well being and may assist in keeping any allergies under control.

Dog foods that are made of natural and organic ingredients help with our dog’s health; usually these types of foods will be richer in vitamins and minerals which can only be a good thing in providing a more healthy option.

If your dog suffers a food allergy identifying and eliminating the source will allow the dog to return to good health fairly quickly.

Vitamin supplements can compliment a diet and help keep the dog’s skin in good condition.

A good option or choice of supplement is something that contains beta-carotene as this has been shown to help remove toxins from the body.

If you have your dog on a diet that contains a lot of meat then by natural consumption toxins will be in its system, this must be managed as issues with heart and lung disease can become apparent over time.

To keep your dog’s metabolic system working well an all natural diet will help

If dogs with allergies are left untreated these disorders can grow to be significant and cause the dog’s further irritation, itchy spots may develop on the skin by way of repeated marring, worst case examples may include self mutilation.

To help eliminate allergies you should feed your dog a balanced and natural diet. Numerous options are available but as with anything a little research goes along way.

Homemade foods are a great option to maximise the nutrients in your dog’s diet as you are in total control of the ingredients and sources of these.

It's time to air out those sleeping bags, clean out last year's coolers and pack up your vehicle. Summer's here and camping season is upon us. What should we do with the dogs?

It’s time to air out those sleeping bags, clean out last year’s coolers and pack up your vehicle. Summer’s here and camping season is upon us. What should we do with the dogs?

Here are a couple of simple ideas and safeguards you are able to make sure that this year’s woodsy adventures are worry and injury free. Before we even arrive at our destination, here are a couple of things we ought to consider: Make sure to have your dog’s ID tags are secure and up-to-date. Get a vaccination for flea and tick shots is needed. It’s wise to setup your tent outside a few days ahead, this will let you practice camping together with your pet so he feels safe inside the tent. Make certain pets are permitted in the campground and inquire into the nearest vet.

Despite the fact that you are living in the backwoods you’ll still wish to have some conveniences of home as does your pet. It is important they have a few of their favorite things, be it a blanket, a toy or at home bed.

Don’t forget about your camping neighbors and supply a secure tether for the dog along with a muzzle if required. Dogs possess a inclination to wrap themselves around any tree, table, vehicle or bit of fire wood, you might consider a doggy playpen, which is also good to keep them in the shade.

Just like us, dogs should have their bed elevated and should not sleep directly on the ground all night. They also need to be protected from the sun and heat. Just as you wouldn’t leave your dog in the car for hours on a hot day, don’t leave him locked in a tent, the outcomes are the same. A little pup tent or a child’s blow up pool are good ways to help keep both pets and kids cool.

Also, make sure you’ve a secure spot for your pet in case of scary noises that may possibly scare them such as thunder or fireworks. Certainly use their crate if they already have one or I’ve found that the car works as a safe place.

Ready to chill out?! Not so fast – You need to watch them as you would a little child. Listed here are a couple of hazards to be watchful for:

FOOD – We tend to be much more laid back and consume a lot more junk foods camping than would at home. Don’t leave meals or snacks lying. Canines have sensitive digestive tracks and get sick easier from fatty foods that are foreign to them than we do.

GARBAGE – It goes without saying, keep it away from them. I have known dogs that have eaten whole cobs of corn, which got stuck in their digestive track and had to become surgically removed. We had a Beagle/Chihuahua mix that ate anything. Once we poured bacon grease in the bushes which was wrong on our part, and of course he licked up the grease and we ended up finding all sorts of stones and twigs in his belly. That was an expensive vet bill and put an end to any fun on that trip.

FIRE – Don’t burn food in the fire. Frequently it doesn’t burn entirely and becomes a dog attraction, but there might be glowing embers within the fire and burn their noses, mouth or feet.

TERRAIN – Get rid of as much sharp and dangerous and sticks, stones and glass. If it hurts your feet it’s going to hurt your dog’s. Dog shoes are the perfect idea if you’re going through rough terrain.

OK, you are ready up at camp and now you have to take on nature. What dangers might lurk within the forest you ask?

INSECTS & TICKS – Short coated animals are just as prone to mosquito bites as we are and should really have their own insect repellent. Ticks are a threat to your dog’s health. A tick vaccine or collar will aid but you will need to do manual checks and if you find one, pick it off with sharp tweezers.

POISON IVY – Although dogs are not much affected by poison ivy, the oil that the plant secretes gets and stays on your dog’s fur and transfers to everything he touches or touches him (like you!) Wash him off repeatedly with mild soap or shampoo wearing rubber gloves.

WILDLIFE – The reality is, avoid them and get your dog in check. If he’s attacked by a skunk, run to the lake for repeated scrubs with mild cleaning soap or skunk. Porcupine quills would be best left to a vet to get rid of.

WATER ACCIDENTS – If you are out on any type of boat or floatation device, and away from your shore you should really put a PFD (life jacket) on your pet, especially if your pet is out of shape or not used to swimming.

Your best bet, while camping is to always have a first help kit available for yourself and your pet. There are special kits made especially for pets. At least have the basics; rubbing alcohol, tweezers, scissors and bandages. Those stretchy roll up bandages are great for wrapping over fur.

In summary, don’t let this advise scare you away from camping with your pet. If anything, it should help make your outdoor experience even better. I have had so much fun over the years camping with my family and would never dream of leaving Henri and Bear behind, they are part of the family too!

How do you feel about animal testing for products you are using say on your face such as eye shadow, mascara, foundation, or even the mineral power you dust off with?

How do you feel about this? I know I can get a little crazy when you start to talk about animals, I had a copper spaniel until the age of 8 then he got hit by a car, I cried for weeks and weeks. My smart Dad got me another dog- a fox terrier which has been the best, smartest dog ever; I can’t even imagine someone wanting to test on him.

When we test on animals it’s quite obvious the animal has no choice, in fact many animals are raised for this purpose alone. It seems weird to me that we test on animals so we can live better somehow. I don’t consider myself to have the same gene pool as a mink, rat, or what ever other animal they deep appropriate to test on so why test on animals in the first place, are they really going to have the same reaction to products as I would?

The next point that I would like to address is that animals react to products differently than we do. Various products have different kind of chemicals that are used inside that product to create the “perfect” product, and some humans have allergic reactions to certain types of chemicals. So what makes us think that if we test a product , on animals that this reaction will have the same effect as animals?

Humans are not so different from animals that are used in animal testing facilities; animals react to different things to. Animals can have allergic reactions to products that wouldn’t give humans any reactions; it really just depends on the type of product and the animal or human. This is just like the reason why human food is good for humans, but giving an animal human food can make that animal very sick, and if a human eats animal food, they too could become very sick, the two do just not mix, and should not be mixed for a way to test products on, if wanting a product tested they should test the product on other humans, and not animals.

Organic chemistry is a subdiscipline within chemistry involving the scientific study of the structure, properties, composition, reactions, and preparation (by synthesis or by other means) of carbon-based compounds, hydrocarbons, and their derivatives. These compounds may contain any number of other elements, including hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, the halogens as well as phosphorus, silicon, and sulfur.[1][2][3]

How do you feel about products being tested on animals? Would you change makeup companies if you knew they practiced this? They do print the ingredients on the package, maybe if you’re a bit squeamish about this procedure you could look for more natural/organic products. Some companies have posted on their labels that they do not animal test their products, but that can be a relatively sneaky term so do your homework if it really bothers you. The internet also has many wonderful sites where you can actually look up the product you are using and it will give you all the stats.
