Dogs who are mistreated have been taught to obey their owners more or less by fear – of the consequences of disobedience. How very sad it is to find such a relationship.

If you put a dog chain on so that it pulls downwards when on the dog it does not free itself but stays tight even though your lead is loose. This means that you are punishing your dog when should not be punished, and spoils the whole idea of letting your dog realize that as soon as he stops pulling, he is quickly comfortable again. This choke chain is in no way cruel but can improve the owner and dog relationship.

Some breeds of dogs are more energetic and independent. Some are naturally docile and obedient. If you truly love and respect your dog show him by lavishing him all the care he deserves.

Breeders who do not take a dog’s health into account end up doing all of us a disfavor. Owners are caused heartache in medical bills and hours of difficult training.

When shopping for a lead chain, remember that lengths of lead chains vary. Small dogs like yorkies need sixteen-to eighteen-inch lengths, bigger dogs up to twenty-eight inches. Tiny tots need the finer and smaller chains still, although I consider that a very small dog need not have a choke chain at all.

In my opinion, there is never any possible excuse for smacking a dog. The time it takes depends on the sharpness of your jerks and your skill as a handler.

Yorkies used to be used to hunt rats. This is actually why the yorkie breed was created originally. Yorkies were bred for intelligence in addition to a number of other traits.

Long ago when yorkies were used to hunt rats they gained intelligence as a breed. Yorkies? intelligence is still apparent to this day, when it is easy to see the smarts when training the breed.
